Nice Product

Reviewer: from Buffalo, New York

I recently received a pack of these as a gift and was skeptical that they would actually tye 100 flies. I was surprised to find I was able to tye six Elk Hair Caddis with each feather. The package I received contained a total of eighteen feathers, which works out to 108 flies I can tye from a single package (roughly 12 cents to hackle each fly).

Other benefit from theses pre-sized hackles are the uniformity of the flies tied and the speed you can tie them (no time wasted picking out the right size of hackle while tying).

Overall a nice product.

Good hackle

Reviewer: from Provo, Utah

This is great hackle, good quality, you still need to check the size as you use more of the feather, I got the 16 and as I got about half way or more down the feather it turned into more of a size 18 hackle, all that aside its still some great hackle.

Good Deal

Reviewer: from Hudson Valley, NY

When I had them I didn't realize how good it was. It wasn't until I tried some second rate hackles that I realized how good whiting was. This pack is a good deal for someone on a budget.

Tying through the winter months is a hard thing when it comes to testing the quality of hackle on a dry fly but these saddle packs work great. The barbule count is very decent and dries seem to float just right (unless proportioned wrong). Very recommended.

Looking for one size hacle?

This is a great idea by Whiting that gives you the hackle size you are looking for without looking over a full cape.
