Great wrapping wire

Reviewer: from Amarillo, TX US

I just bought Ultra Wire in the brassie size for tying Copper Johns. The colors are great and really stand out on the body. I would probably recommend the medium size for Copper Johns sz 16 and larger...the brassie size is a little small, but still works just fine.

Ultra Wire

Reviewer: from Holland, MI US

This is really great tying wire. You can use it for tying bodies, ribs, even for weight or an underbody. I have yet to see a different wire that is as good quality, has as many sizes or colors available. I use this stuff for anything but dry flies.

Best Wire I have Used

Reviewer: from Peralta, NM US

This wire is great for what it is most popularly used for which is ribbing. It also works great as wire in dubbing brushes. Spins well but does not break. You can match colors to the color of your dubbing brush.

Ultra Wire - so aptly named

The ability to tie variations of trout patterns is extending the dimensions of fly tying capablities in the modern era. Without doubt, the variety of ultrawire adds to that very dimension. A wonderful array of colours and its durability with a variety of sizes gives the tier a great advantage in creating his/her patterns with style and class. It cannot be faulted.

The copper john wouldn't exist without this stuff

Reviewer: from South-eastern PA, USA

The coloring stays even after countless bumps against the bottom, the wire is sturdy, comes in various colors (though I still say that the white has a touch of beige in its coloring...), and it is simply the end-all, be-all when you want a colored wiring option. As for weight, well, it isn't a lead or tungsten wire, but it does add a touch of weight. I personally prefer to add a beadhead plus additional 0.020 or 0.015 lead-free wire in addition to this, for nymphs, but to each their own, and I'm fishing roaring rapids most of the time, so that may have something to do with it also - the need to get it down quickly. Overall, this is the preferred wire brand for me, and for many of my tying friends. I am particularly fond of the wine color, in a copper john pattern with a Uni Mohogany thread head - comes out crisp and matches our iso's perfectly, albeit with some copious amounts of flash added - but all of the shades of wire are quite nice. I'm giving this 5 stars for the ease of use, the color selection, and the consistency of color from one spool to the next.
