Description

The Renzetti Saltwater Traveler 2300 carries the same large-hook jaw capacity and corrosion-resistant construction as the 2200, with expanded base options that add versatility for tyers who work across different setups. The 2300's 6x6 Pedestal makes it the more stable platform for heavy flies — large deer hair bass bugs, bulky pike patterns, tarpon flies built on wide-gap hooks — where the mass of the fly and the tying forces at the head benefit from a wider, heavier base footprint.

The jaw range covers #4 through 8/0 on the same cam-lock mechanism as the 2200 — consistent holding power across large hook sizes without flex at the jaw face under tight material pressure. True rotary function runs through the full hook range, so spinning a large saltwater fly to check profile or wrap flash is the same one-finger operation as on the standard Traveler. For tyers who need C-Clamp portability for travel, standard Pedestal stability for a home bench, or the wider footprint of the 6x6 for large-pattern production, the 2300 covers all three.

FAQ

What's the difference between the Saltwater Traveler 2200 and 2300?
The core jaw mechanics and hook range are identical. The 2300 adds the 6x6 Pedestal as a mount option, which provides a wider, heavier base for tying large, bulky flies where extra stability matters. If you tie primarily at a fixed bench with heavy patterns, the 2300's 6x6 option is worth it.

When do I need the 6x6 Pedestal over the standard Pedestal?
When you're regularly tying dense, heavy flies — large deer hair bugs, pike patterns, multi-material tarpon flies — where tying forces can shift a standard pedestal base. For light to medium saltwater patterns, the standard Pedestal is sufficient.

Does the 2300 handle the same hook range as the 2200?
Yes — both cover #4 through 8/0. The difference is mount options, not jaw capacity.
