This is my favorite hook for classic winged wet flies. The extra length makes it perfect for a little longer body if needed and still plenty of room for the wings and a small head.
Strong and durable and very sharp. Unlike some hooks that are forged, I have found some other brands where the tips have broken off because the hook is too brittle. Never had I ever had a broken tip with Partridge. Their Patriot series competition hooks are my absolute favorite.
Good for more than just nymphs...One of my favorite hooks, these are a 3xl hook on heavy wire! Good for more than just nymphs... I like them on some dry fly patterns too, specifically dry fly patterns with foam and/or spun deer hair. These hooks make killer traditional styled streamers like Muddler Minnows and are an excellent choice for nymphs with longer bodies or bead heads. These hooks have a great bend, are super sharp and have been pleasant to tie on. I will be buying these again, highly recommended!
I bought these with the hope that they'd be a good bit longer than other #12 nymph or other hooks I have. Of the FM & Gmtsu #12s I have, I'd rate this as a #14 comparatively.
