Specifically designed for tying traditional North Country spiders and soft hackles, the Ahrex LE810 Legacy Spider Hook reflects the subtle finesse these patterns demand. Featuring a round bend, up-eye, and fine wire, the LE810 enables soft materials to move naturally in the current, mimicking emerging insects with deadly realism. Its classic proportions and barbed point provide secure hook-sets while honoring heritage fly designs passed down through generations of UK fly fishers.

I’m thrilled that jstockard is now carrying these hooks! They have the traditional sproat bend and a half-down (not up) eye. The shank length is just a smidge short which is perfect for the proportions of North Country Spiders. I suppose they could be used for any wet fly or even nymphs, but these hooks really shine with American Soft Hackles and more traditional spiders in the style of TE Pritt. I especially love tying Cutcliffe's patterns on these hooks and notice that the half-down eye leaves plenty of room for 2 winds of hackle and a squared off head - it helps newer tyers prevent crowding the head, for this style of fly. These are my favorite hooks, but then, 99% of my flies are north country spiders and soft hackles to sell and for personal use.
