I have been using this bobbin for a couple of months and see no difference between this and ceramic bobbins with the inserts at either end of the tube. A very good bobbin at a good price point.
Very nice so far, nice and comfortable in hand. Huge win for these are of course the price. But the most important part is they haven't frayed the thread. These are the only standard bobbins below the $30.00 price point that hasn't cut my thread. The only issue I've found, which is very minor, is they are a real pain to thread through the tube. Other than that I'm extremely impressed.
Picked up 2 of these as replacements for some bad (thread shredder) bobbins. Have been tying #18-#20 midges & stoneflies for our winter fishing, using 14/0 thread.
Their fine tubes & smooth inserts are a treat, and the price is very reasonable.
As mentioned elsewhere, they re a PITB to thread. Form a loop with some 4#-6# mono & use it to pull the thread thru.
Yes, I will re-order.
I have tried every bobbin out there, and I have problems with cutting thread in the smaller sizes, 8/0 and smaller. These, so far, do not. I would rate these ahead of the ceramic, titanium, and ruby tipped bobbins. To make threading super easy, get some GUM dental floss threaders (little blue looped sticks) at the drug store, cheap and work great for cleaning hook eyes too.
