Show Us Your Bench

Show us your fly tying bench, messy, tiny, or immaculate. Join the J. Stockard community showcase and email your photo for free shipping on your next order.

Show Us Your Bench is our annual community showcase, and it's running now.

Now, just to be clear, this isn't a competition! (Although it could be ... for the messiest, neatest etc, you get the idea - we want to see it as it is!)

It's super simple: Post a photo of the place you tie on your preferred social media, tag us, and your bench joins a gallery the J. Stockard community has been building for years.

To level up, email us that same photo (after you've posted it) and you'll get free shipping on your next order.

Does your fly tying bench look like a mad scientist's lab? Are you camped out on a folding table in the garage? Is your setup so crammed with stuff you can't actually see it? Whatever it looks like and however it's set up, we love to see it.

WHY WE ASK

Every fly starts at a bench, and no two benches are alike. Some are custom cabinetry with a drawer for every hook size. Some get cleared off every night so the family can eat dinner. Some sit in front of a window that looks out over the water the flies are headed for. All of them say something about the person tying there.

That's the whole point. There are no judges, no winners, and no prize for the tidiest desk. It's a look at how real tyers actually work, and a reminder that there are as many ways to tie as there are fly tyers. To see what the community has shared so far, take a look at benches from the 2024 and 2025 showcases.

HOW TO SHARE YOUR BENCH

  1. Take a photo of your bench as it really is. No need to clean up. The half-finished fly, the pile of hackle, and the coffee mug are all welcome.

  2. Post it on Instagram or Facebook and tag us. Use the hashtag #ShowUsYourBench.

  3. Tag two of your fly tying mates and challenge them to post there benches. (Purely optional but the idea here is classic - the more the merrier.)

  4. Tell us a little about it. Where your bench lives, what you tie most, and the one tool you'd grab first if the house caught fire.

  5. Email it to us for free shipping. Send the same photo to service@jsflyfishing.com and you'll receive free shipping on your next J. Stockard order. *Applies to orders within the USA only.

WHAT WE'D LOVE TO SEE

Everything. But if you need a nudge, here are a few of the setups that always get the community talking:

  • The mad scientist lab. Materials on every surface, three vises, and a system only you understand.

  • The small space solution. A closet, a corner, a fold-down shelf. Past showcases have included a closet converted into a fully working tying station.

  • The bench with a view. A window over a river, a garden, or just the street outside.

  • The travel kit. Everything you need, packed into a box that fits in a truck or a carry-on.

  • The first bench. Just started tying? Show us where it's happening. Every veteran's bench started somewhere.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

We'll be sharing community benches across J. Stockard's social channels throughout the campaign. By posting with our tag or emailing us your photo, you're giving J. Stockard permission to share it with credit to you.

LAST WORD

The flies get all the attention, but the bench is where the work happens. Show us yours.
