The feathers are good for tails on bass poppers, among many other things. There is a wide range if sizes on these.

I don't know if the Whiting American necks that I have are typical of their product, but I haven't been impressed with them. The necks that I have were bought when the grade were Gold, Silver, and Bronze. I have a yellow grizzly bronze or silver that has very inconsistent markings. Many of the feathers are not barred at all. I also have an olive grizzly neck that doesn't have enough web for my needs. I tie mainly bass bugs.

The cape of pink over grizzly that I recently received is STUNNING. I don't want to pull feathers off of it because it is so freaking perfect. REALLY, I feel bad when I use them.
Griz patterns and dyed color are VERY consistent. Shape, size, and length also very consistent. Entirely the opposite of Mr. Musgrove's experience. This is why I prefer to buy expensive hackle IN PERSON (cherry pickin). My tying is also focused on bass/large fresh and saltwater.
