With long supple quills, incredible barb density and a full range of hackle sizes down to 20's, Whiting Dry Fly Capes are the industry standard for quality and value. This product line derives its heritage from the legendary Hoffman grizzly super hackle stock. Bronze grade is not only the sweet spot in terms of value but also is, in Tom Whiting's words, adequate for 90% of most tiers' needs. The average feather in a bronze cape ties 1 fly and hackle sizes span 5 to 6 hook sizes (i.e., sizes 10 through 18). Brown may be dyed if the natural is unavailable; other colors are natural unless specified as dyed. The barred dark ginger color is an excellent substitute for hard-to-find cree.
This is a great cape - the feathers are high quality and dense, with dense stiff barbs. I assume the only reason this light ginger cape is rated as bronze is that there are a few (less than a dozen) feathers with dark central regions next to the rachis. Otherwise it's exceptional. It's perfect for including in hackle for Grey Fox Variants. I'll find other uses for it too.

Awesome
I didn't realize how high quality these were until I had my hands on them. Just perfect.

Can't really ask for more
If you tie trout flies, get a bronze grizzly cape and a bronze barred ginger cape. You'll be set for many many years. Price seems steep but that feeling ends once you start tying with these feathers.
