I typically try to blend my own squirrel/hares ear dubbing, but I have this in two colors and love it. it's a great consistent product.
It has a good # of guard hairs but not so many that it makes it hard to dub. just a good blend of easy to dub and spiky.
Unlike some other dubbing blends, they don't go too heavy on the synthetic/flash material. If you look closely, you can see the lighter colored synthetic material blended in, but it initially appears as 100% natural hair. If I want it to be flashier, I'll mix it with some ice dub or trilobal dubbing, but I wouldn't characterize it as a flashy dubbing at all. appears as just squirrel. which makes it very versatile. Since I don't buy dyed hares ears or squirrel pelts and just use natural, it's helpful to use this when I want a natural spiky dubbing in a color that would be hard to blend on my own or would require adding too much synthetic
would probably use this instead of hares ear for most flies, honestly.
