About Us

Why Tyers Choose J. Stockard

J. Stockard exists for fly tyers. Not as a corner of a larger fly shop, but as the whole focus. From hooks and hackle to dubbing, thread, tools, and hard-to-match materials, everything we carry is chosen, organized, and supported with the tyer in mind.

Whether you are tying your first pattern or restocking a bench you have built over decades, we are here to make it easier to find the right materials and get back to the vise with confidence.

Why Tyers Stay With J. Stockard

Fly tyers come to J. Stockard for the selection, but they come back because the details are handled well. The right materials are easier to find, product choices are clearer, orders are packed with care, and help comes from people who respect the craft.

Our Promise

What that means for you:

  • A wide selection focused specifically on fly tying
  • Clear product information to help you choose with confidence
  • Trusted brands, useful materials, and dependable tools
  • Careful packing and reliable fulfillment
  • Helpful service from a team that understands tyers’ needs
Our Mission

Helping Tyers Tie With Confidence

Our mission is simple: help fly tyers of every experience level find the materials, tools, and information they need to enjoy the craft and tie better flies.

That means carrying a deep, focused selection of fly tying products, making them easy to search and compare, and backing every order with a team that understands how important the right shade, size, texture, and profile can be.

What Guides Us

Focused, Helpful, and Built to Last

Fly tying rewards patience, precision, and curiosity. We try to bring those same qualities to the way we serve our customers.

We believe good service starts with respect: respect for the beginner learning thread control, for the expert matching a hatch, for the commercial tyer ordering in volume, and for every customer trusting us to get the details right.

Convenience: We make it easier to find the right material, color, size, or tool without unnecessary guesswork.

Trust: We aim for accurate listings, honest information, and dependable service.

Quality: We carry products we believe serve a real purpose at the bench.

Reliability: We follow through, from sourcing to packing to delivery.

Respect: We welcome every tyer’s experience level, style, and approach to the craft.

From the Bench

Contributing Tyers

Some of the best fly tying knowledge comes from people who spend real time at the vise and on the water. That is why we are proud to work with contributing tyers who share techniques, patterns, product insight, stories, and practical advice with the J. Stockard community.

Their work helps make the craft more accessible, more enjoyable, and more rewarding, whether you are learning a new pattern or refining a technique you have tied for years.
