Love this vise! 5 out of 5 stars

Reviewer: from Waterford, MI

I have been looking at the Regal vises for a quite some time now, but I just can't afford one. I tried one of these on a whim. I have to say I have been very impressed. I was so impressed that I bought a second vise to keep at my cottage. I still plan to save for a Regal, but this one will do until I can save my pennies for the Regal. One of the main attractions of this vise for me is that I don't have to mess with the jaws when changing to different sizes of hooks. Just squeeze the jaws, insert the hook and release. I did have to return one of the vises for a replacement. The jaws didn't line up. J. Stockard was very easy to work with. They sent me out a replacement with a return postage paid sticker for me to return the defective vise. If you're thinking about getting a Regal, but like me can't afford one yet, try one of these. I think you will be pleasingly surprised. I know I was.

Was looking to buy a new vise when I seen this one reviewed on a you tube video. I thought for the money what do I have to loose. Ok, let me tell you this thing is awesome! Easy to use and well made, I have not been disappointed.

Should've bought a Regal 4 out of 5 stars

Vice holds big hooks well because of the hook slot and holds a size 14 and smaller hooks well. Hooks in the 10-2 range don't seem to hold too well in the vice. Much better than the AA vice I started out with and I plan to use this vice for tying my big flies until it wears out. I tried a regal out in the store and the clamping action fells much more crisp and refined. The jaw size seems to be a bit smaller on the regals too.

Surprised 5 out of 5 stars

Reviewer: from Virginia

Upgraded my daughter from a $15 vise to this one. Wanted something that was simple and straightforward. Simple and straightforward is what we got. She’s seven and is able to open the jaws and tie different size hooks all on her own without assistance. So far the jaws hold a size 12 - 8 with no problems. Worth the $45.
