Rotating Spring Action Vise II

Bought this for my daughter who is beginning to tie her own flies. works great fo0r her and equals the regal that I use. Great tool for the money!

IF YOU WANT AN INEXPENSIVE VISE THAT YOU CAN QUICKLY INSTALL A HOOK WITHOUT MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS AND JUST START TYING THIS IS THE VISE!! Just squeeze the lever to open the jaws, insert the hook, then release the lever. It holds hooks extremely firm. The vise jaws will take a wide array of hook sizes. I used hook sizes 2 to 20. The vise jaw taper is short and thick which makes it great for tying comfortably with hooks down to size 14, you start to loose some clearance at the back of the hook on sizes 16 to 20. Nice Features to this vise are adjustable up and down Vise Head Angle, 360 degrees Vise Head Rotation and Vise Height adjustment. The Standard 3/8 inch diameter Vise Stem makes it easy to add accessories to the vise such as; a bobbin holder, hackle hook gauge, light, etc. Finally, it can be converted to a pedestal base if wanted, but the 10 1/4 inch stem height will have the vise setting high on a table.

This vise works well. Hold both large and small hook solidly. The only issue I had was with the "C" clamp. The throat could be about a 1/2" deeper. the deck that I use has an ogee trim edge on it, so needed a deeper throat to get the vise solidly attached to the desk top. I changed the clamp that came with the vise, with the one on my existing vise. Problem solved.
