I was expecting something the size of a screwdriver, but this tool is relatively small, the handle being maybe an inch to an inch and a half long. That said, it is simply perfect! The interchangeable tips fit snugly into the handle, and are held there simply by friction by the silicone or rubber type material that the handle portion is made out of. I find that it is so snug, in fact, that I have to use a paper towel, or the edge of my shirt, to pull a tip out and change it. Some may find this a con, but I find this a positive. As for the tip nubs themselves, they are perfectly smooth, and are "realistic" in their sizing. By that, I mean they span the range of hook eyes that we'd actually be tying on. It isn't like we'd be tying on size 32's all of the time, and isn't like we'd be tying on 50/0 shark hooks either - this has a "realistic" range of sizes for the diameters of the holes in the tips. I've successfully used it on size 28's, and have successfully used it on 6/0 salmon hooks though I admit the salmon hooks were a challenge - I'd say it is best suited for more in the size 1 and lower range, for traditional salmon irons (hooks) but for typical trout flies or warm water flies, it shouldn't pose any issue. A different reviewer said that this is prone to roll off the desk, and I have to agree with them it does roll, *but* mine rolls in a "smile shaped" semi-circle, not in a straight down to the floor fashion, so it rolls around, but not to the floor. Annoying as heck, distracting, but nothing major - at least to me. I just keep it in a foam tool organizer to prevent it from rolling around, and problem solved. So all in all, this is a great little product! I'd buy it again, if I were to lose it.
