Fly Tie Color UV Resin - 5 gram

I am still experimenting with this resin but after a couple perdigon wing cases I have found that you really need to soak it in UV light before it begins to harden. Even then, it is still a little malleable and not solid. Going forward, I will try layering it several times to get the desired wing case thickness- and that way I think the resin will harden better - step by step.

I have been unable to get this product to cure fully. I do not want to spend minutes hitting it with a light. Even after lengthy lighting I am left with a little bubble of wet resin with a balloon skin. I have been using it for Perdigon wing cases and I am not using any more than necessary. I have tried a variety of things, including leaving my fly box to bake in direct sunlight for several hours. This helped a little but the uncured resin is still there and seems to cause delamination and leaking after fishing with it. I notice that Solarez makes the bone dry in coloured options. I will try this although I am disappointed that they do not have black.

This stuff does not cure well. Even with lighting it up for several minutes ( too long when in a tying rhythm) all I can achieve is a balloon skin filled with wet resin. I have been using it for wing cases on Perdigons and I am not using anymore than is necessary. I have tried layering it and curing each layer as I go ( again too slow) but still have wet resin and also delamination after use which creates a black mess. I even tried sitting my fly box in direct sunlight for an entire afternoon to bake them the rest of the way, this helped a little but the cure is still incomplete. I tried to research what might be going awry and discovered that Solarez also makes a coloured version of Bone Dry. I will switch to that instead. No black in the bone dry though, so I will have to rely on the old magic marker.
