I've been tying streamers with bucktail for years. I tried the EP 3-D Minnow Fibers as an experiment. I liked them a lot and will be buying more. The main advantage is that they are much easier to tie with; you can crank down hard on them with crimping them, and double them over easily. For my larger flies (pike flies and larger articulated streamers) I will likely switch entirely to these. They don't really stack, but I can trim the backs with the taper or consistent length I like.
The one thing I appreciate more about buck tail is that they have naturally tapered ends, and stack nicely, so for smaller streamers (#8, for example, and maybe some #6) I am still drawn to bucktail.
