Because GSP fibers are quite tough, they can damage the blade edge on fine scissors and stainless bobbins. Semperfli recommends using a ceramic bobbin and cutting with a razor blade. Nano Silk will take most dubbing waxes and this helps the thread stay in place as well as serve as a great dubbing thread. Although it is tough enough to make durable flies without a coating of head cement, UV cure and water-based cements can be used for appearance or texture. Solvent-based glues and coatings are not recommended as they might compromise the fibers' strength.

Incredible high strength material....

Incredible high strength material. I bought in white and color it with markers. For anything with alot of deer hair I love it. You can pull so incredibly tight and the thread is strong. Major point, do NOT use good scissors. It WILL dull them fairly quickly.

I personally use the...

I personally use the 6/0 and the 18/0 threads and they are the strongest thread ever. I only use the old ones for coloring the flies and not to assume the cost of throwing them away.

There are 2 tricks to use it efficiently:
1. Put some wax (dubbing wax, a candle, whatever) on the first 1/2 to 3/4 inch to prevent it from spinning on the hook, this was Kelly Galloup's idea.

2. To cut it, use old scissors, do NOT use your favorite ones....it can dull them very fast. It is that strong.
