Magnetic Fly Bench

Like the inch, metric ruler for sizing hook shank length to pattern size. The magnetic pad is just right strength wise, but I find the hackel gauge a bit hard too see,and I feel it’s a bit over priced. But over all a nice addition to my bench.

I love this thing for prepping flies to tie - specifically, putting a couple dozen beads on hooks and lining them up to tie. This way, the beads and hooks stay in place before getting to the vise. Similarly, I don’t often put flies straight into a fly box after tying. I’ll organize them on the magnetic fly bench in little piles, then put them in a box later. It’s great for keeping things in place and organized so you’re not losing flies or hooks after they fall off your desk (which used to happen with me a good bit).
