Whiting has, in my opinion, the best capes on the market bar none. The quality and consistency of the feathers is tremendous. If you are a new or seasoned tier looking into purchasing dry fly capes Whiting Farms is the only way to go.
I bought one of these as a special order before they were a stocked item at JStockard. The only difference I can really see between this and the Bronze Grade is the Pro Grade might have fewer of the really small 22 and smaller hackles. There are a lot of great true #10 and even #8 hackles for large dries, which are becoming more and more difficult to find. At the saddle end of the neck, are some of the most outstanding long, semi-soft hackles for woolly buggers and other palmering needs. I bought the "barred dark ginger" and it truly is beautiful, with a lot of black, ginger, and white barring on many feathers; like the description says, cree. This is good stuff.
Recently I bought - combo 1/2 capes grizzly+brown. Good quality feathers. Today I tie stimulator size 14, from one feather you can tie 2 flies (grizzly & brown). Feathers size from 6 to 20+, but not a lot of feathers on cape! No absorbent pad under skin!
