With long supple quills, incredible barb density and a full range of hackle sizes down to 20's, Whiting Dry Fly Capes are the industry standard for quality and value. This product line derives its heritage from the legendary Hoffman grizzly super hackle stock. Bronze grade is not only the sweet spot in terms of value but also is, in Tom Whiting's words, adequate for 90% of most tiers' needs. The average feather in a bronze cape ties 1 fly and hackle sizes span 5 to 6 hook sizes (i.e., sizes 10 through 18). Brown may be dyed if the natural is unavailable; other colors are natural unless specified as dyed. The new barred dark ginger color is an excellent substitute for hard-to-find cree.

The best dry fly cape on the market 5 out of 5 stars

Whiting's hackle quality is above and beyond your standard dry fly hackle available on the market. Each cape has a wide array of usable hackle feathers that will meet all of your tying needs. Personally, I only use Whiting saddle and neck hackle for all of my dry fly patterns.

Hands down the best cape for the money, skin is densely packed with quills, quills are soft and strong, rap like a dream, the quills are densely packed with hackle fibers, can hackle any size fly, plenty of hackles ranging from 12 to 20 and even down to 26! if your into dying, this price is well worth it. i dye feathers as needed. Awesome cape.

Best economical hackle available 5 out of 5 stars

Reviewer: from So. California

The Whiting "Bronze" capes are better than competitors best capes. High barb density, supple and a wide hackle range with a ridiculous amount of size 14-22. Very dense. The current necks are even better than years past with more and better feathers! I took a "Barred Dark Ginger" to a tying demo last week and several people thought that it was cree. The barred dark ginger is a great economical substitute for cree.
