This hook is a wonderful addition to your fly-tying bench. Jig hooks work well in streams where bottom snags are common. Since a jig hook drifts in a horizontal orientation with the point up, they are less likely to snag. They are best used when nymphing perpendicular to the main current in a tight line or European nymphing rig. The points on these hooks are round and very long. They are not as sticky sharp as Japanese hooks, but the hook profile and length of point compensate well. They are best used with slotted tungsten beads and can use an oversize bead without blocking the hook point.
