This is a Hareline Dubbin, Inc. product. I compared these mono eyes in size large from Hareline to my existing stock of large mono eyes from Wapsi. Hareline packages 20 pairs. Wapsi packages 15 pairs. Hareline packages its mono eyes attached to a tree as part of the molded process. Wapsi packages its product loose in a bag. The tier must trim the flash from one of each pair of the mono eyes after separation of the Hareline product. There is no flash on the mono eye of the Wapsi product. The stem between the eyes is much thicker on the Hareline product. The length of the stem between the pair of mono eyes from Hareline is 4mm long. The Wapsi stem is 5mm long. This is only important if you cut foam strips that overlap the mono eyes and rest on the stem between the eyes. If tying foam panfish bugs in sizes #10 and #12, a tier could use the shorter stem of the Hareline eyes for #12 and the longer stem of the Wapsi eyes for #10. Mono eyes are convenient and eliminate the step of creating mono eyes from monofilament fishing line, probably 80 lbs. test for large eyes. Then, the tier must color the eyes with an indelible marking pen or paint. The Hareline mono eyes will get the job done. The Wapsi product seems more finely made, but more expensive.
Tie these onto some nymph patterns I don't want to add weight to. They tie easy, but I think I can make for cheaper. Good to have in a pinch or if I'm feeling lazy.
