Description

Ultra GSP is stronger for its weight than steel and excellent value. 50 denier is excellent for tying small flies and a minimum of bulk. The 75 denier size and the 100 denier are all-purpose for both fresh and saltwater. 200 denier GSP is great for spinning big deer hair and other large, demanding patterns. 50 yard spools.

Other Details

50 denier: about the diameter of 12/0 thread, a breaking strength of 4 lb. 75 denier: about the diameter of 10/0 thread, breaking strength of about 6 lb. 100 denier: about the diameter of 7/0 thread, breaking strength of 8 lb. (Kevlar, by comparison, has the same breaking strength for 200 denier thread.) 200 denier: breaking strength of about 16 lb.

GSP vs Kevlar

Reviewer: A viewer from Trussville, AL US

GSP is a great alternative to Kevlar thread. GSP, in my opinion, is just as strong and comes in more colors than most Kevlar threads. There are still times I use kevlar, like when I can't afford to risk breaking my thread, but I use GSP just as much if not more.

Good

I like this thread, it is very very strong. I recomend you shouldn't get any stronger than 100 deniar because then it gets really thick. The only time I would see using it is spinning giant clumps of deer hair.

Excellent but expensive

Reviewer: A viewer from Chapin, SC US

This thread is amazing for really torquing down on big flies, but it is definitely expensive for the amount you get. Well worth it though if you tie a lot of big streamers or bass flies.

WOW

Reviewer: A viewer from Little Elm, TX US

WOW... This stuff is amazing. I tied some 100 denier to a hook and tried to break it and it would either bend my hook or yank it out of the vise. I bought this to spin deer hair with and I have to say it is the best I have used. You can really pull tight and not worry at all. I think it is fairly comparable to a 6/0 thread in size and don't see a need to go higher unless you are tying really large flies. I am also using this stuff to lash the tips of my fly line with just because it is so strong and absorbant with the head cement.

Super Strong

This stuff is nearly impossible to break. Great for spinning or stacking hair.
