Decided to try the schlappen in a shorter size. Primary use was to be collars on steelhead and spey patterns. The item description was 4" to 5" in packages of approximately 1/4 ounce. My package of red contained feathers of decent quality in the size I expected but the package is clearly labeled " approx. 1/8 oz." so half of what was advertised. My package of purple was comprised of much shorter feathers but still useful. A package of black was truly awful. Feathers were between 3" and 4" with the vast majority 3". Again, all packages are labeled: "approx. 1/8 oz." The bad news: poor quality; the good news: I don't have as many as I thought I would. I will steer clear of these in the future.
J. Stockard responds: The labels do say 1/8 oz. but the Wapsi dealer catalog says 1/4 oz. and the packages in stock weight about 0.3 oz. each. We've notified Wapsi. Thanks to Joseph for bringing the issue to light.
