I built the 9' 9WT TiCrX as an open water rod intended for windy conditions, big fish, and big flies. My go to rod for Stripers, Big Redfish, Large Pike, and Bass (on windy days). It even does well on Steelhead/Salmon.
Easy loading rod, forgiving to the beginner
TiCr coating is durable, rods can take abuse!
Incredible casting distance
Power to muscle in big fish
Maintains sensitivity even w/ coating
A little heavier than some premium blanks
Blue finish becomes more purple w/ prolonged UV exposure
great performance but odd finish

I fell in love with this blank at a TFO cast/compare session sponsored by my local fly club. Lefty's description is spot-on and it will throw a long, flat loop right where you want it to go with minimal effort. It loads effectively with a half or full weight heavier line. It will reward your good technique with a great launch. It will also magnify your less stellar casts.
The only questionable aspect is in the finish of the blank. The dark blue metalflake looks great in direct sunlight and the grey finish of the ferrule area is not unattractive. The odd part is the transition between the two finishes. It sort of forces you to do a full inch or more of ferrule thread wrap and about 0.4 inches of counter-wrap on the male end of each section where your alignment dots would go-just to visually close the gap to a reasonable span. This may be TFO's way of suggesting how you wrap the ferrules. Also, they look like they are spigot/plug ferrules in some photos, but they are standard male/female tapered ends.
This is a great blank for the medium to long shot cast.
