Description

Z-Yarn is similar to Betts Standard Z-Lon from Metz, but with a little more crinkle in the fibers, less sheen and much less expensive. It is great for spinner wings, sparkle dun shucks, caddis emerger cases and tails.

Yarn

Not as good as Z-Lon yarn, but adequate substitute for fraction of the price. Comes in small package, would have liked a little more of it though, and a wider color selection.

unique stuff.

Reviewer: A viewer from Alpha, NJ US

I use rug yarn(sparkle yarn) antron, z-Lon, and hareline emerger yarn. Emerger yarn has way more sparkle and so does z-Lon. Not much of a difference in it than antron other than its a little duller and its yarn like. z-lon and emerger yarn are not very "yarn" like. This stuff is. Not to say it doesn't have its uses. It is great for spinner wings, posts, trailing shuck, cut up it dubs very easily.

excellent material

A must for any trout tier...makes great spinner wings, trailing shucks, dubbing, and veils for sparkle Pupa at a remarkably low price.

You get what you pay for

I'm not saying that this isn't a good product or that it doesn't have quite a few uses but if you are buying this a a substitute for Z-Lon you are making a mistake. However for the price this can't be beat and instead of looking at this product as a Z-Lon replacement look at it as a unique and useful product.

Difference between Z-Yarn and Z-Lon

Reviewer: A viewer from Glendale, AZ US

Both the Z-lon and Z-Yarn maintain their krinkle when wet.
Z-Yarn is more krinkly, thus fuller. I have used for large wings with wing burner, and they work better than Z-lon because they are fuller.
Translucency is similar.
