Sturdy, sharp, pretty good quality

Right off the bat let me be honest and say I'm a loyal hook user of partridge and mustad, with only occasional use of other brands. That should only reinforce how much I adore these hooks, because it is rare for me to find a hook outside of the partridge or mustad line that I like. Personal preference, is all. But these hooks are mighty sharp, and aren't cheaply made, despite the relatively low price tag. Blackened color to the irons. Couldn't get a hook to break when even intentionally trying to - I bent the shank back 180 degrees and back to standard three times over, back and forth, and it still didn't snap. This is for the size 12 of the J2 510 emerger hook. Have been debarbing using my Stonfo Kaiman vise to pinch down the barb, on maybe 50 or so of these (admittedly not a ton, but enough to get an estimate for the quality) and not a one has failed or had the hook point break in the process; barb clamps closed very cleanly. Only complaint for these - and I had to search hard to find anything - is that the hook barb is just the slightest bit high if you want to multi-purpose these hooks and use them for nymph hooks, with beads; that is, it is difficult to get a bead past the hook barb without crimping the barb first. But hey, they're emerger hooks, and technically the bead thing isn't an emerger style, it would be more of a nymph style fly. (Technically... though I've tied plenty of beaded emergers...) That's my only complaint. For me, I debarb anyhow, so it is a moot point. For the price, these can't be beaten. Heck, even at a higher price, these compare to the higher end hooks on the market. I have to be honest, and sorry JS, but I was surprised. Normally house brand hooks are shoddy pieces of work, and I only bought these thinking "well. maybe I can use them for panfish". JS really surprised me with these. They're not the typical piece of crud house brand stuff from other big box stores. These are quality. Can't praise the product enough, but I'll end this there.

These hooks are really growing on me. The price is great and I would say they are very comparable in quality to dai-riki. Good value and they get the job done. I've had very few, if any quality issues with these hooks. Would recommend anyone give them a try.
