Not bad, but

I generally have been very impressed by most of the J. Stockard hooks I have used, including their dry fly hook, heavy wet fly hook and scud hook. I was a little disappointed by the emerger hooks because I find the eye to be too small in proportion to the hook, making it difficult for someone with old eyes like mine to thread the tippet through them.
Just what I expected

Firstly, I love the straight eye. Secondly, the "satin gold tone" is a perfect description. Lastly, and most important, the quality of these hooks is right up there with the big name makers. All eyes are fully closed, and they're sharp! And C-H-E-A-P!
agree that the eye is small

This is a great hook, but I agree with another reviewer. Sometimes I prefer to use a larger flurocarbon tippet on a smaller fly tied with a Kreh loop (non-slip loop knot), and the small eye size seems to limit the action on the smaller flies.
Great hook at a great price

Found my new hook. I love being able to buy at least 50 hooks in a pack. The quality is all I could ask for. I know other hooks that are double the price are of a better quality but, they are plenty sharp enough and catch just as many fish as pricey hooks. The hooks are as strong as I could ask for as well. These hooks are finished better than other hooks I have bought at the same price. The price makes them well worth it as well.

these hooks are excellent...just ordered a bunch for the upcoming winter tying season, and they are very sharp and well-proportioned. great hook for the price, and nice to see the JS line expanding, now if only they'd add some bass and saltwater hooks, the line would be perfect.
