The trilobal fibers are straight and have a bright sheen. Unlike natural hackle, this material can be shipped to any country without extra customs documentation. 1/2" wide (measured edge to edge) or 1 1/2" wide; the larger size is perfect for larger patterns such as for saltwater. 4 yd. per package.

Not That Great

Reviewer: A viewer from IA

After reading the rave reviews on this product i ordered one color to try. What a mistake this was.

This pseudo hackle will not lay straight out like real hackle as it wants to lay somewhat flat.

I don't know who leaves these great reviews on this product unless it's hairline employees.

I stopped by a local sports store a purchased a very nice saddle piece for $5.00 and it works great.

Useful product

First off all, understand I am a beginner. Tried this on a soft hackle fly (size 12) and did not work well, possibly because of the relatively thick stem and lack of natural "curvature" (and hook size?). Real thing works better for me here. Tried it on a b**** creek nymph (size 10) and a wooly worm (size 14 curved nymph hook) and it worked well. Easy to tie in, wrap and tie off for those style flies. Will continue to use. Now - what will the fish think?

Nice but difficult at first

Reviewer: A viewer from Willow Grove, PA US

First attempt was total FAIL. My wife gave me a "You spent money, you better try again" look. After playing with it a while it ties up really nice. Learn to twist and turn to make it point where you want.
Parachute patterns may be impossible though!

Save your scraps and mistakes! The little fibers make great tails! I even tried dabbing a bit of Krazy Glue on it to see if that would melt it and it held up just fine.

Multiple Uses for this Product

Reviewer: A viewer from Coshocton, OH US

It took me a few tries to get the hackle to lay properly, but I played with it until I figured it out. Other uses include: using the cut-off portion for ribbing bodies, using extra hackle fibers make nice durable tails, and you can cut it any size you want for feelers, antennae, etc. I think I will find more uses for this product in the future also. I have used it on several flies since my purchase. Be patient with it, it works.
