great for tailing

Reviewer: from Clarks Summit, PA US

the best tailing material I've yet found for dry flies, and a great substitute instead of mixed grizzly/brown hackle tails.

Best feathers for tails!

Reviewer: from Lawrenceville, GA US

I have used many other natural feathers for the tails of my nymphs. I ordered the Coq de Leon and was amazed at the strength and ease of use. Will be loading up on the other colors soon.

Very nice

Reviewer: from Little Elm, TX US

These are very nice feathers. It seems like a lot, but for using as tails on flies you can get quite a few flies per feather. This material looks really good as tails and nice and stiff for dry flies.

Favorite tailing material

Reviewer: from Carbondale, CO US

I'm not a big fan of micro fibbetts for mayfly tails. Once I started using Coq de Leon, I'm hooked. Looking forward to adding more color variations to my collection. Highly recommended.

Excellent feathers but drastic and inconsistant color variances

Reviewer: from Springville, UT.

I'll give the feathers themselves 5 stars, which are great high quality feathers with long, stiff fibers that make excellent tails on dry flies and Euro nymphs... However, the reason for a 3 star rating, is that the color marked on the package is not necessarily the color of feathers you'll get... I ordered the dark pardo CDL feathers expecting to get dark grey feathers with black speckling. What I got was a package of dark brown furnace feathers (dark brown with a black stem/core) with zero speckling that resemble spade feathers from a dark brown furnace dry fly neck. I didn't return the feathers because I'll use them, but they were not what I was expecting to get. A better color chart, pictures and an explaination of color choice names would be nice to have for future orders. I do recomend these feathers as they are excellent and high quality, but be warned of color variances.
