Great Value

After many years on a very cheap starter vise, this vise works like a dream and i have been extremely happy with it. It has a lot of options for customization. The carrying case it comes in makes it easy to travel with.

Built like a tank!

This vise is built solid and I will guess that it will last me forever. The adjustments on it make it very easy and very quick to secure hooks for tying flies. The vise comes with a bobbin rest and a few other things which really add value to the package.

Great After a Little Adjustment

Reviewer: A viewer from Georgetown, TX US

I bought the Montana Mongoose as a replacement for a Peak Rotary. I was dissatisfied with the hook holding ability of the Peak, although the rotary function of the Peak was very good - and I think the Peak's pedestal is better than the Mongoose pedestal - but the pedestals and the c-clamps of the Peak and the Montana vises are both 3/8" (interchangable), so it's all good.

I have a Griffin Montana Pro, so I knew what to expect from the Mongoose as far as hook holding. The Mongoose holds hooks as well as the Montana Pro. Out of the box, my Mongoose had a rough spot in the rotating mechanism. I had to do some minor disassembly and exploration to figure out how to get it to rotate freely. Other than having the initial minor hassle, I much prefer the Mongoose to the Peak.
