The folks at Dyna-King have enhanced the Barracuda Indexer, the vise with ball bearings for smooth rotation and an indexing knob that "clicks" at 8 angles as you rotate the head, with added features like a freely rotating body, a new innovative angle adjustment "shaft" (which allows the whole vise to angle up or down!); new bobbin mount design (it moves up, down and around); and an additional 90 degree handle. As with the original Barracuda, this vise also has tool steel jaws that will accommodate hooks ranging from size 24 to 10/0, brass knobs all throughout the vise, a hardened cam lever, rotational lock and drag adjustment, and a forcing cone which adjusts the tension. Choose from either an oversized pedestal base or a large clamp base with an outrigger. A centering gauge is included.

Well Worth the Wait!

My wife wanted to buy this vise for me for Valentines Day. I ordereded it on February 14th. Due to manufacturing issues at Dyna King it took almost two months to get it. Everyone at J Stockard was great. They kept checking on its status and updating me. When they finally recieved it, they sent it out ASAP. It is one amazing piece of craftsmanship. When I ordered it, I really didn't think all of the options would be of use to me, like the indexing. Now that I have been tying with it, it was worth the wait! I use all of the features and love the vice. The ability to tip the vice, index to a position, and then rotate the fly with the jaws directly, make tying wings a piece of cake. I would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend.
Last vise you will need

This vise is yet another work of art produced by Dyna-King. It has all the bells and whistles any tyer would ever need. As a demonstration tyer, I tie everything from a large saltwater fly to size 28 trout flies. This vise will be the last vise you will ever need.
Ultimate Indexer A Superlative Device

I bought my Ultimate Indexer a year ago, after 40 years of tying and 16 years thinking about getting a new vise to replace the AA I had since I was a kid.Other vises over those years were attractive, and expensive, but I just couldn't pull the trigger, because I wanted a really nice piece, that would last me forever.Well,I spotted the Ultimate Indexer here, and decided that few vices would ever exceed the features it offers--and I think I chose wisely-BECAUSE I tie patterns for fishing bluegills and trout, all the way to offshore flies for whites and sails. This vice not only does them all,but you also feel like some kind of billionaire magnate,or tycoon as you work the silky rotary bearing or tweak the fine settings of the tension adjuster and the indexing knob.Hooks are held precisely in position,as the super strong jaws are sculpted on the inside to actually grab the hook bend, eliminating the tendency to lever up and down with high thread tension. There are features on this vise that I have yet to use, although I love and use constantly some features I figured would just be luxurious bragging points about this fabulous tool. Now I don't know what I would do without this thing---It is for me an inspiring object of art, pulling me along to become a better tyer by virtue of its SUPREME UTILITY.( I bought the C-clamp version)
First and last vise. Best quality

This vise is the first I bought and I think it will be the last. Itââ¬â¢s very good and solid built with stainless steel and brass. The jaws are hardened and they hold every hooks without damages. With this vise tying makes more fun. Absolute top vise!
Wonderful Tool to keep for a lifetime

I upgraded to the Ultimate Indexer from a very nice mid priced vise, and could not be happier. The Ultimate Indexer provides ample room behind small hooks to work. One of the greatest appeals of the UI was the ability to position the fly in more ways than on just the rotary axis, and the UI fits this bill.
The fit and finish on the vise is top notch, with some mill marks in the shallow recessed pockets on the base. The rotary action is smooth, and all the adjustments are easily accessed, and very intuitive.
I look forward to years of service from the UI, and hope that my skills grow into such a high end tool
