Buy the Danvise and companion extension arm together and save! In a design that has been emulated by other companies, the Danvise allows alignment of the hook shank with the axis of rotation, so that when rotated with the crank handle, the shank remains stationary. The jaws hold hooks ranging from size 28 up to 2/0 securely. The vise stem has a diameter of 10mm (0.393") and is adjustable up to a full 6 1/2" and has a C-clamp base. A bobbin rest and instruction DVD are included. This bundle also includes the innovative Danvise extension arm, which gives you another several inches of working room around the tail of the fly - perfect for tying streamers and tube flies. NOTE: The extension arm cannot be adjusted for left-handedness.

Ok for the price

Its ok for the price, but a little cheaply made. The tension adjustment knobs fell off within an hour of my first use. I have to use an allen wrench to work them now.
Otherwise an ok vise, not a Renzetti, but...
you really do want the extension arm!

For room behind the fly, you need the arm. Worth its weight in gold, best value for the buck. Material's not as cheap as it looks though it gets a bad rap based on looks. Mine held up for over 10 years now, of daily hard use. Still going strong. Great vise.
A True Rotary vice that works

I bought the Danica Danvice with the extension arm last Sep 09 and I've never used a smoother or easier vise to tie with. I'm an engineer and I've worked quite often with delrin in knew it was a tough material, bit I never thought it would be a good choice for a vice.
I've tied everything from trout to striper flies and it took all the hooks and all the pulling and tugging I put onto it. I can't say enough for this inexpensive tough vice. Thanks.
What a fantastic rotary vise!

I purchased this for my husband and he is delighted with his new vise. It seemed a perfect match, he is from Denmark and so is the vise. It is very lightweight but has ALL the features of the more expensive vises. I ordered a Peak vise for myself but I think the Danvise is easier to use (especially with the hook adjusting). You can order a pedestal base for this online if you want one. We did. It is VERY reasonably priced and even comes with a handy DVD that explains all about how to use the rotary and other features.
You can't go wrong with purchasing this vise. It is a great buy and a great vise. J. Stockard was a great company to deal with. We got the vise in a very short time. Highly recommend.
