1 out of 5 stars 3/0 Uni-thread 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Nicholas Brown (brownni5@hotmail.com) from Memphis, TN US
For tying big heavy flies, often times a 3/0 thread is nice to have - but not this one. It is not put together as well as the other Uni-threads (6/0, 8/0 - both of which I love). It frays very easily, many times while whip-finishing. For heavier thread, monocord or another high-denier thread will work better.

2 out of 5 stars Phasing out my 3/0 UNI supply 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Bill Scrimpsher (elkhair1@verizon.net) from Huntington Beach, CA US
I started tying 4 years back & started with 3/0 UNI because I tie a lot of saltwater flies. At the start, it was almost exclusively saltwater. I have experienced the fraying & breaking of this thread many times and a serious drawback in my opinion, is that it tends to "white out." By this, I mean the thread starts to appear lighter & dust off the wax residue, such that a strong red can appear almost dark pink, when whip finished or pulled tight (that is, if it doesn't break first!) I am changing to "Big Fly" thread because I'm tired of 3/0 breaking & 'dusting'. The only way I've found to counteract the lightening of the color is to apply at least 2 coats of head cement to try & make the color what it was on the spool. Many saltwater patterns use bucktail, lots of it .. so thre's a good deal of cranking down the thread. 3/0 Uni isn't the right one for me. We all learn, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly........

4 out of 5 stars A good product 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Jarred Behrendt (behrendtfitness@yahoo.com) from Omaha, NE US
The UNI thread is a good thread, but somewhat limited on colors. I use the 3/0 size for the majority of my nymph and dry fly tying. It is a good product but a bit on the round side, which makes it a bit more dificult to produce the head.
