Gel spun thread is that product for us fly-tyers. Two things to get out of the way first. This stuff can be hard to cut if your scissors aren't really sharp, even the 50 denier. Secondly, it is very slick and is a bit harder to get started than what you're used to. But, to me, these are very minor inconveniences. In fact, the first one is a major plus. I'm tying everything from size 8 Madam X's to size 24 JuJuB's with the 50 denier Wapsi, simply unbelievable. It lays flat as a pancake and it is strong, very strong. This thread is a miracle, plain and simple. And no, I don't work for Wapsi, either:-). It is expensive and I've compared the Wapsi to another product that costs twice as much and I can tell little or no difference between the two. So it's Wapsi for me. I'm hoping a lot of people start using this thread because maybe then the price will drop. This is important to me because I'm going to be using a LOT of it! Not only is it super small it is also incredibly strong. The white is almost translucent. When wet it melts into the body color.
