3 out of 5 stars Inexpensive quick sink 00/00/0000

If legal in your fishery, lead gets the fly down quick. Can't decide the diameter to use? I use a rule of thumb of matching the diameter of the hook shank with the diameter of the lead wire. Then if wanting to take extra step just coat with epoxy to address toxicity.

A great way to add weight to your flies, but being lead its toxic. I have since switched to the lead-free variation when tying. These wires allow you to add weight to the fly so it sinks flatly and doesnt nose-dive.

5 out of 5 stars you cant beat lead 00/00/0000
Reviewer: John Ujvary (stoaks_320@yahoo.com) from Alpha, NJ US
You really cant beat lead when it comes to getting you down. The other composite wires are no where near as dense as lead. AS far toxicity, buy some nail polish and coat it. I do it to the lead after its wrapped on the hook. Its a cheap way to seal it off.
