Ive never seen stockies pound a dry fly so many times. Best time is the warmer weather though. So tie a few up and give it a try. There are several brands and manufacturers for "rubber legs". These from Hareline are high quality goods with no flaws that I've found. The medium size make great legs for most of my beetles, Chernobyl Ants, Frog flies and so on, as well as for skirts on some of my larger poppers and slider/divers. I find the "fine" size a bit difficult to work with, but it is suitable as legs on my smallest beetles, and sometimes as skirts.
