Danvise
by: Danica
SKU: OF-900805-0000

Product Overview:

This vise was one of the first true rotary vises to break the $100 price barrier, and has won a loyal following. In a design that has been emulated by other companies, the Danvise allows alignment of the hook shank with the axis of rotation, so that when rotated with the crank handle, the shank remains stationary. The jaws hold hooks ranging from size 28 up to 2/0 securely, and the vise stem is adjustable up to a full 6 ½″ and has a C–clamp base. A bobbin rest and instruction DVD are included.

Other Details:
The vise stem diameter measures 10 mm (just over 25/64″), and vise accessories made for 3/8″ stems such as bases, trim bags and stem–mounted lights may not fit this vise.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Rotary Vise For The Money 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Ronnie Ladd from Augusta, AR US
I am fairly new to fly tying, but I have used a couple of rotary vises before. Once was at a friend's house and once in my fly tying class. Each of the other vises were seperate brands. Of course both of the other vises were also more expensive as well. The Danvise was recommended to me on the Fly Tying Forum. I was in the market for a good vise and I wanted something that was a rotary vise. Since my budget didn't allow me to purchase a vise over $100.00 the Danvise was in my price range. I ordered the vise from J. Stockard's. The vise came in a timely manner and was packaged very nicely. I checked the vise out and found it to be in great working order. After having used the vise now for a couple of weeks I have come to appreciate it's abilities. It will do everything the ads says it will. For the price it will run right along with the other two vises I have used. If you are looking for a rotary vise and don't want to spend over $100.00 this is the vise I would recommend. Even if you have the money to spend, the vise is still a great buy. I would highly recommend this vise to anyone. Take Care, Ronnie Ladd

5 out of 5 stars Love this vise 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Michael Markey (mjm46@bellsouth.net) from Woodstock, GA US
I've been using the DanVise for more than 3 years. I love it. It has very high quality cam operated jaws that have not suffered a ding from a hook in all the time I've been using it. The rotary action is very smooth and will stay put where you want it to stay. I tie flies as small as 26 and the hooks never slip. Large hooks are also no problem. I heard some mention this as a starter vise, but in my opinion it is an excellent tool. I've been tying for more than 30 years my first vise was a Universal Rotary. So I am very familiar with and use all the rotary functions of the vise. It is truly a great vise and I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a quality vise with a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 stars Danvise great for beginners! 00/00/0000
Reviewer: John Lincoln (JMLINCOLN@MSN.COM) from South Euclid, OH US
I have three Danvises: 1) clamped to my tying table 2) packed for traveling 3) for instructional use ... I just ordered 2 more for use in fly tying classes. Cabela's base and garbage bag are OK ... the latter is drill out to fit the Danvise. I also give these mod. bags to beginners. True rotary and easy on pocket book.

5 out of 5 stars Danvise 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Nicholas Brown (stu12098@atu.edu) from Memphis, TN US
I love this vise! It never fails to hold the hook tightly, and the true rotary action really aides in tying just about any pattern. There might be a better rotary vise out there, but not for the money.

4 out of 5 stars The cons 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Laval Ng (lavalng@gmail.com) from SengKang, Singapore SG
Bought the danvise 2-3 months back and indeed it is really great but surely a genuine buyer will ask where are the imperfections? (i) When adjusted high, the 'stem' tends to be a bit flexible when strength is applied while tying. (ii) Not enough room space to manoeuver at the tail of the fly. If you can live with the above, then it becomes perfect.
