I received this vise about a month ago. Wasn't real sure what to expect. I've tied on rotary's before but have never owned one. I've tied about 40 flies ranging from size 6 to 22 with this vise. Strong hook holding power. Smooth operation. This vise has definately made me realize what I have been missing out on.

This vice is great to use, whether you are entry level or seasoned tyer. Does have complete rotary function. Mechanically it is well machined and jaw strength is tremedous on mine was able to bend a 6/0 in two directions with no slippage. Would recommend this product to anyone looking to start or further their fly tying career !

4 out of 5 stars Great After a Little Adjustment 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer from Georgetown, TX US
I bought the Montana Mongoose as a replacement for a Peak Rotary. I was dissatisfied with the hook holding ability of the Peak, although the rotary function of the Peak was very good - and I think the Peak's pedestal is better than the Mongoose pedestal - but the pedestals and the c-clamps of the Peak and the Montana vises are both 3/8" (interchangable), so it's all good. I have a Griffin Montana Pro, so I knew what to expect from the Mongoose as far as hook holding. The Mongoose holds hooks as well as the Montana Pro. Out of the box, my Mongoose had a rough spot in the rotating mechanism. I had to do some minor disassembly and exploration to figure out how to get it to rotate freely. Other than having the initial minor hassle, I much prefer the Mongoose to the Peak.
