4 out of 5 stars Great beginners vise 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Jason Westlund (chunk_style@hotmail.com) from Corvallis, OR US
I recently took a steelhead fishing course at my college, and we covered tying flies for steelhead, including in-class fly tying. I looked online, found this site and ordered basic tools for beginners fly tying. This vise is the one I chose, and I feel it is an excellent choice for beginners. Low cost, very adjustable, simple to use, mountable anywhere. The only detractor is it doesn't have a groove in it for the hook, so it is possible to push down and slip the hook from the jaws. However, this does require a large amount of force, and isn't likely to happen in most tying patterns. Once again, a great vise for occasional tyers or beginners.

4 out of 5 stars 30 Years 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Ed Hudon (enhudon@gmail.com) from Byfield, MA US
I learned to tie on this vise over 30 years ago. In fact, I still use the very same vise from time-to-time -- 30 years later. This is a great vise for a beginner or occasional tier. I use it as a travel vise. It takes a little adjusting to get the jaws set up for the hook size that you are tying, but once it is set it does a good job of keeping the hook secure.
