I have had big problems in the past with hackle slipping from my pliers. I used to use english style hackle pliers until I received my new pair of non-skid pliers from J. Stockard. They are great. The rubber and corrugated gripping surfaces, along with strong tension keep the hackle locked in place. The only way you will loose a hackle feather with these pliers is if you break it. I love em. They're great since they don't crush the hackle stem yet give a secure grip by the little non-slip pads.
