Singlebarbed Sixth Finger Scissors

Sixth Finger Scissors

Item #: OF-900358-0000

Product Overview:

This unique patented version of the spring scissor fits comfortably in your hand, and the finger loop holds the scissor on your middle finger so that you keep it in your hand while arranging and winding material onto the hook. It's an incredible timesaver for tyers who trim and cut materials frequently. The precision blades are best at fine work, although the tungsten models can tackle heavier or tougher materials. The tungsten models also feature black finished bodies and adjustable screws to tighten the blade or dissemble for sharpening or cleaning. The larger tungsten model measures 5 1/2" and is recommended for larger patterns and cutting heavier materials. The lighter weight, stainless model (top picture) has a gold body and a tiny non-adjustable surgical screw.

Very sharp and precise. Takes some getting used to to not lay them down while tying but once you do get used to them they will be an indispensable tool on your fly bench.

4 out of 5 stars Great Scissors 00/00/0000

I've been tying with the both the tungsten and stainless versions of the Sixth Finger Scissors since they first came out and haven't gone back to standard scissors since. They're extremely lightweight and excel at precision tasks such as cutting individual feather barbs. They hold an edge incredibly well, I've had my stainless pair for almost two years now and they're still just as sharp as they were on day one. The tungsten version is equally sharp, but seems to feel more sturdy. The only cons are they have problems cutting some synthetic hairs, and if you have really big hands/knuckles, the loop might be too small.

These scissors work great for making small cuts, like feather fibers and thread. You will need a conventional scissor when you want to make large snips like when your tying with hair or other large materials. These are very easy to hold while tying.
