Bass Fly Line
by: RIO Products
SKU: LL-210130-0000

Product Overview:

Designed for the special disciplines of fly fishing for bass. This weight forward fly line combines an aggressive, short, bullet–shaped forward taper and a medium length back taper. RIO’s Bass fly line is designed for fixed length (repeatable) short and long distance casts and is the perfect taper for casting large, wind–resistant bass flies. Excellent turnover results from the hard self–lubricating coating that doesn’t wilt or sag in the heat. Weights and length available: WF6F — WF9F 90 ft (27.4 m), Color: Yellow

Starting at: $69.95

4 out of 5 stars big bugs are easy to cast 06/08/2008

I bought this line before Memorial Day, hoping to use it over the holiday weekend. Life being what it is, I was not able to do ANY fishing. I finally got out for a couple of hours today (before the storms raced through) to see how the line would cast some 2/0 deer-hair poppers in a mild wind. Not being Lefty Kreh, or Joan Wulff, or anyone having near the casting abilities of someone like them, I was pleasantly surprised that the line seemed to turn the fly over easily, and punch through the wind as if it did not exist. I was getting nearly 55-60 foot casts in roughly 10mph gusts. With my standard WF8F line I can expect maybe 35-40 foot casts in the same conditions. I might have gotten even longer casts had I not been tangling the line in the brush on shore, or around the butt of my rod, or even myself on occassion. Like I said, I'm NOT a great caster. The line was also easy to pick up off the surface of the pond I was fishing to reposition the fly after stripping, after the wind blew it all over the pond, or even after the little 'gills played water polo with a bass popper about the same size as they were. All told, I am thus far pleased with the line. The only problem I have is that it DOES NOT have welded loops like I thought it would. My fault for not confirming that the line did have the loops.
