It appears to be well designed for it's intended purpose. VERY sharp out of the box, and the shank length gives great versatility for different patterns. It's great for foam divers (Stealth Bomber) and foam gurglers too (Gartside style). The slightly recurved point style lends itself well to a mono loop weedguard. Even better than the hooks, was J Stockard's customer service- there was an error in my order regarding my hooks, and James had it corrected within hours. Quality products and dedicated personal attention keep me coming back to J Stockard. It is light weight, durable, and very sharp. It gives you the excellent stinger shape which works perfectly with long streamers. Plus the durability when fighting a fish is incredible. I have caught as big as an 80lb tarpon on this hooks without a problem. Give it a try, you'll never want to use anything else. And I believe that no one model better represents this line than the C52S. The microbarb, common across the "Signature" line, is almost good enough to leave uncrimped. The general construction of this hook, as with all "Signature" hooks, is top-notch. Mustad would like to see it marketed as a "Stinger" hook, as well, by which I assume they mean "bass bug", like the 37187. I find the gape far too small on these hooks to clear the fat bodies of my poppers. However, the C52S is perfectly proportioned for most of my "streamers". Was this review helpful to you?
