5 out of 5 stars Worth every penny 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer from Catawissa, PA US
I have been building rods for a few years now at the rate of one or two per year, and I can say with complete honesty that purchasing this book and reading it from cover to cover drastically improved the quality of my workmanship; looking at "before" and "after" rods would make you think that they were built by different people. The first rod I built after reading this book (and every rod since) looked nicer than any off-the-rack rod I have ever seen. Not only is technique discussed, but the information on finishes and color preservers is sufficiently thorough to enable would-be builders to make intelligent decisions about what to use and how to apply it. I still refer to this book with every rod I build. In summary, I recommend this book without hesitation to anyone with moderate interest in building a rod that can surpass the craftsmanship in rods costing several hundred dollars.

I have quite a collection of rod-building books now, and each has it's own merits. Art's book is really great...he's budget concious and the book is loaded with tips, tricks, and ways to save some money. His building tecniques are really great and each time I build a rod I refer to this book first. very comprehensive, and any rod builder, novice to professional will gain out of reading this book. a Must for any rod building bench.
