Loomis IMX Slate Fly Rod Blanks offer the ultimate in high performance, high modulus fibers. With an impressive modulus (stiffness-to-weight ratio), and an extremely high strain-rate (elongation-to-failure rating), G. Loomis blanks can be as much as 40% lighter than a comparable standard graphite model, and incredibly more sensitive. Fly rodders will appreciate the quick, responsive actions and efficiency in the casting stroke provided by this high energy, high performance material. IMX blanks feature a non-glare stealth finish in slate gray to help reduce weight to the very minimum and eliminate fish-spooking glare. Customer Review: Number Of Reviews: 1 89 of 154 people found the following review helpful: Slate blanks not so true anymore 00/00/0000 Reviewer: A viewer from Thunder Bay, ON CA I’ve built a few rods using the Slate IMX blanks and really like the way they cast, but you really have to work with the blank to get a decent result. Problem: the sections are not completely straight. The latest one I bought (8wt) is the worst yet. Once I found the spine I had to play with the orientation of each of the sections relative to one another and still the blank once assembled is not very straight. [Editor's note: We try to make sure that product quality is maintained, but obviously some things can slip past us. Also, G. Loomis blank packaging is sealed at the factory and we are reluctant to break factory seals because they themselves offer some assurance of quality. If you get a blank that is unsatisfactory, I strongly suggest that you return it to G. Loomis for a replacement.
