I built the 9' 5 weight rod about a year ago to use as a travel rod, but I like it so much that it is about the only rod I use anymore. It's a medium-fast action rod that fits my casting style very well. It feels comfortable in my hand, it's not too heavy and not too light and my arm isn't dead at the end of the day (unless I'm really into some good fishing).

Was looking for an inexpensive 4 piece blank to build a rod for backpacking use. This blank make a great looking rod, that preforms well. Highly recommend this for someone looking for a blank to build a short rod for tight bushy streams. And backed by J.Stockard's quality service!

I ordered the 7'6" 4wt blank for all around rod. This was my second rod build and I absolutely love these blanks. They have great action and they are pretty good in the looks department. Don't think that this rod is cheap and its a waste of money. I've already landed spotted bass in the 2lbs range with it. This blank can throw anything from light dries to heavy clousers. These blanks are perfect for the 1st time rod builder.

I have built several models of this rod. The 7'6" 4wt though shines as an awesome rod. The 8'6" 5wt is also nice. Royal Blue gudebrod thread without color preserver will match really well if you want to see the threads just a bit. Blue dun thread will match the blank perfectly without color preserver.
