Kevin Slater

Kevin Slater is 36 years old and lives in Des Moines, Iowa. Introduced to fly tying and fishing by a local bait shop owner about 10 years ago, he began with the simplest of flies, woolly buggers. Soon after, he started tying more advanced flies and eventually developed patterns of his own. Kevin likes to use both natural and synthetic materials to create new patterns or fine–tune variations of existing ones. He mainly fishes northeast Iowa, part of the much written–about "Driftless Region" that includes southeastern Minnesota and southwestern Wisconsin as well. There are plenty of other fishing opportunities in Iowa as well, including natural lakes, man-made impoundments and even farm ponds. Kevin hopes you enjoy this first offering of flies and says ‘thanks’ for taking a look. He’Il be adding more in the future for warm and cold water species.
