Great and Useful Rod Blank

After receiving the blank by mail I assembled the components. The first time I fished with it was on Henry's Lake in Idaho. I caught a couple of cutthroat trout that were medium size. The rod is light and medium fast and feels good. The last fish I caught was a little over 8 pounds but the rod did its work. The only problem being my net was to small and another fisherman saw the problem and offered a larger net. The rod performed beautifully and it looks pretty good to.

Both blanks have a great action to them, durable, and flawless. I had trouble in the past with St. Croix blanks, minor defects. Not once have received a defect with these blanks. They are very strait which i really like. Performance and feel is very similar to a sc2 from St. Croix but slightly heavier. For the price and performance of these blanks i would choose these over St. Croix any day and i wouldn't recommend any other blank than the forecast and rainshadow
First Fly Rod Blank

This was the first fly rod blank I purchased (7'6" 3 wt). I wanted something inexpensive to "practice" on since this would be the first rod I was going build. I'm very pleased with the outcome and and how well this blank performs. I will continue to build fly rods on this blank in the future.

This was my 3rd rod building project. I had wanted to build a lighter weight rod that was better in the wind than a 1 or 2 wt. I've been quite pleased with how this one turned out and how it fishes. Can't beat the price either!
